Building Maintenance Technician

The Work Ready Certificate / Building Maintenance Technician is a 21 week program composed of 16 credit hours. This intensive certificate coversthe fundamentals of building maintenance. The certificate focuses on safety, tools of the trade, and occupational opportunities. In addition, this certificate will cover various introductory aspects of plumbing, HVAC, and electrical. At the end of this certificate, students will be prepared to take the Home Builder Association of Alabama (HBAA) Residential Construction Skills Exam. HBAA is nationally recognized and verifies an individual has the fundamental competency necessary to work in this industry. To obtain this certification, students must score at least 70% on the HBAA exam.

This certificate program requires 16 hours of coursework as follows:

 

COMP 101 : Introduction to Computers – 3 credit hours

WOSK 101 : Workplace Skills – 3 credit hours

BMT 101 : Building Maintenance Technician – 3 credit hours

BMT 102 : Building Maintenance Technician – 3 credit hours

BMT 103 : Building Maintenance Technician – 3 credit hours

BMT 104 : Building Maintenance Technician Capstone – 1 credit hour
